Variegated Yarn vs. Solid Yarn
We use the phrases variegated yarn and solid yarn to describe the color appearance of a yarn. Variegated yarns have multiple colors mixed in. Solid yarns are made up of a single solid color. Here's an example:
Both of these are Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift wool yarns. The left one is the variegated Leprechaun color, and the right is the solid Lime color.
